Holidays to Jodhpur

India Travel Services takes you to the enamoring tourist attractions that adorn blue Jodhpur. Jodhpur was once the capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Marwar. It was also called as the Land of Death. While on tour to Jodhpur, you will come across many historic yet interesting buildings.

Most important place to visit in Jodhpur is the Mehrangarh Fort. It was built by the Rathore Rajputs in the 15th century AD when they shifted their capital from Mandore to Jodhpur. Today the part of the fort has been converted into a museum, which is managed by the Royal Trust. The important buildings within the fort are the Moti Mahal, Janaki Mahal, Chandan Mahal, Darbar Takhat or Throne Room, Rang Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Umaid Vilas and Maan Vilas.

Umaid Bhawan Palace was built in 1929 AD under the patronage of Maharaja Umaid Singh. He designed the building by the British Royal Institute of Architects. It is mane of marble and chittar sandstone and thus sometimes called Chittar Palace. Maharaja Gaj Singh II lives in a part of the building while the rest has been converted into a hotel.

Other interesting places to visit on tour to Jodhpur are the Jaswant Thada, Girdikot and Sardar Market and Government Museum. If you want to get in touch with the local custom, enjoy the village safaris.
